Getting the Tree

We're watching The Polar Express over here, for the 3rd time this season.
"But since it's Christmas, I'm going to let you slide."

Last Saturday we went and picked out our Christmas tree.  It wasn't like the usual cutting-of-the-Christmas-tree outings, like this one .  We drove up our road, like we usually do, up the mountain, but this time only far enough to reach pines.  Any pine would do really.  As long as it would fit in our house.  We didn't have much time, and I was totally happy with not having to go up to the snow line of the mountain.  I like snow well enough, and it is fun and festive while picking out Christmas trees, but I really do NOT like driving, or riding, on icy mountain roads.  It makes me tense.

Fresh out of the car excitement.
So our tree this year is, I think anyway, a pokey ponderosa pine.  But the kids love it and this is probably the earliest that we have ever gotten a tree.  So it's all good.

Masculine Spencer with the blade, and pink gloves.

Here she is.  Kate spotted it from across the hill.  The best sized one where we were.

Jiles was more than happy to hold "Udder" when my arms got tired.

Need to get ahold of us?  Call us at 1-800-I-H8-2-W8:

If that number is busy, then try 1-800-WE-R-Dum (thanks to my twin nephews who wrote that on there. It is from the video that they made for Thanksgiving, which was hilarious, by the way.)

Weston asked if anyone wanted to run home.
Um,  yes please.  Well, at least part of the way.

Then the big 3 decided that it looked fun and joined me.

This picture sort of reminds me of The Sound of Music when Maria is running backward leading the children in song as they run toward her.  Only we are way less green (no green here) and 4 less children.

Our road in our neighborhood.

Now the tree is up and (partially) decorated.  The kids love to sit by the window behind the tree and play with the many nativity sets that we have.  I remember doing that when I was little.

Just a note, this tree was growing under the power lines, so it would eventually need to be cut down anyway.

Oh I'm super jealous that you get to cut your tree! I've never done that abut I've always wanted to. Carrie, you're awesome. Every time I read your blog I remember why I am so inspired by you. Like, for reals. ;) Have fun decorating!

nice tree, and hey sorry about the writing on your car....they told me they did that as we were leaving town, so I'm glad you think it's funny and not annoying!
